After waking from a terrifying nightmare, Ataro and her wife Jia must
navigate what is real, testing the strength of their 50 year marriage.
An entire generation of LGBTQ+ individuals lost their lives in the AIDS epidemic. The following generations and those who continue to survive and thrive never quite had a dearth of examples of what it looks like to live into your elder years. Combined with the ever present challenges of Alzheimer’s and many other advanced age struggles, this story tackles both. Giving a voice to these communities – showing the hardships of a degenerative disease and mental illness and a deep love between elder LGBTQ+ characters, their family and all around them – is the guiding force behind Wake Me Before You Go.
